I was struck when one day I learned that you become an expert once you’ve read ten books on a subject. Prior to this, I’d assumed it would take years of study, and so this statement blew my mind. “Hey,” I thought to myself. “I can read ten books.” But funny enough, I don’t think I have. Except maybe books on writing by famous authors, which hasn’t made me an expert, but has given me an appreciation for the well constructed sentence.
